Meet the tour leader at the Malta International Airport at 1030hrs, for check in on your Ryan Air direct flight to Bologna departing at 1245hrs. Upon arrival at 1440hrs, your rivate coach will await you to start this memorable holiday. Make your way towards your 4* Star du Parc Hotel in central Parma, but not before a visit of a Balsamic Vinegar Farm where production techniques are explained and various vinegar flavours from different years of ageing are tasted. In the end one can also buy some products directly from the manufacturer. Afterwards proceed to the hotel for check-in, room allocation, dinner (extra) and overnight.
After breakfast, we encourage you to join your tour leader for your first full day excursion to Bologna and the nearby Maranello. Bologna is the lively, historic capital of the Emilia-Romagna region, in northern Italy. Its Piazza Maggiore is a sprawling plaza lined with arched colonnades, cafes and medieval and Renaissance structures such as City Hall, the Fountain of Neptune and the Basilica di San Petronio. Among the city’s many medieval towers are the Two Towers, leaning Asinelli and Garisenda. Later take a short ride to Maranello: a small town, best known as the home of Ferrari and the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One racing team. Visit the Ferrari Museum (entrance inlcluded) which entices its visitors to live the Prancing Horse dream first- hand. It offers a unique and enthralling voyage of discovery, a story told through cars that have made automotive history on streets and circuits the world over. Return to your hotel in time for dinner (extra) and overnight.
Today after breakfast we encourage you to join follow passengers on one of two excursions. You may opt to have an exciting full day at one of Italy’s best amusement parks: Mirabilandia (entrance extra), or a full day to San Marino. One of the world’s smallest and oldest republics, the most serene Republic of San Marino is a must see destination for lovers of history – and for those who love picturesque panoramas.
After breakfast join the tour leader and a licensed English speaking guide for walking guided tour of Parma. Parma is a university city, famed for Parmesan cheese and Parma ham. Romanesque buildings, including the frescoed Parma Cathedral and the pink marble Baptistery, grace the city center. After lunch (extra), spend the afternoon rooming around this splendid city in your free time.
After breakfast and check out, your private coach will transfer you to Savona Port, but not before an hour long stop at Tortona in Piemonte for a coffee/ice cream break in marvelous surroundings. Later embark on the incredible Costa Fascinosa followed by cabin allocation. Make yourself at home on this state of the art cruise ship, once the largest ship in Costa’s fleet.
After an abundant and healthy breakfast we encourage you to explore the various facilities this ship has to offer as she makes its way to Naples. From the casino to the various bars and lounges, the discotheque, the swimming pool, restaurants, beauty salon, the sports court and the wellness centre are just a few of the amenities this ship has to offer. In the early afternoon you may disembark at Naples for an up close experience of the bay of Naples and the nearby Mount Vesuvius. You may also opt to visit nearby Capri.
After a relaxing morning, you dock in Catania at 1300hrs. The an ancient port city on Sicily’s east coast. It sits at the foot of Mt. Etna, an active volcano with trails leading up to the summit. The city’s wide central square, Piazza del Duomo, features the whimsical Fontana dell’Elefante statue and richly decorated Catania Cathedral. In the southwest corner of the square, La Pescheria weekday fish market is a rowdy spectacle surrounded by seafood restaurants. Grab yourself a bargain from Catania’s flee market before heading back to the ship for your last few hours in one of your best holidays ever.
Your wonderful mini cruise comes to an end today. After a relaxed mouth-watering breakfast, make sure you are on deck to watch Malta’s coastline getting close, berthing at around 0800hrs. You will definitely cherish some wonderful memories of a truly unforgettable cruise.
