Your final stop is Whistler Village, the home base for many 2010 Olympic events. This pedestrian village is located at the base of the world-famous Whistler-Blackcomb Mountains. Spend an afternoon exploring eclectic downtown shops and cafes, hiking along nature trails, or relaxing and breathing in the fresh mountain air. On your return to Vancouver, mountains give way to ocean as the coach winds downwards from towering peaks and rugged coastline, to metropolitan cityscapes.
After breakfast, we offer you a wonderful optional sightseeing tour of Victoria, the capital city of the province of British Columbia where you will visit the world-famous Butchart Gardens or the lush and exotic Butterfly Gardens and see how Victoria earned the nickname “The City of Gardens.”. Breakfast and last hours of exploring Vancouver before your coach will take you to the port to check-in and embark on the elegant Celebrity Eclipse. Luxurious and upscale on every deck and at every turn, Celebrity Eclipse sets the standard for modern luxury vacations. Sail in style surrounded by stunning décor.
Today you will be cruising the Inside Passage, one of the most beautiful coastal routes in the entire world. It features virtually everything you came to Alaska hoping to see, including rain forests, glaciers, fjords and white-capped peaks. All of which create a setting that’s perfect for viewing whales and sea lions. Take your taste buds on vacation with diverse dining options—everything from comfort food and craft beer at the Gastro Bar to the traditional style and artisanal flair of Tuscan Grille.
A Russian settlement until the Alaska Purchase of 1867, Sitka’s Russian heritage is still very much rooted in the city. Visit St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral for a pristine example of period architecture. Nestled on the coast of the Gulf of Alaska, there’s much natural beauty to explore on a Sitka cruise. A walk along the promenade in Whale Park offers a chance to view breaching humpback whales, while a trek into Sitka Historical Park reveals stunning coastal trails and hundred-year-old totem poles. Venture to Tongass National Forest for an up-close view of wildlife, including Alaska Coastal Brown Bears, American Bald Eagles and Sitka Blacktail Deer. Or head to the Sheldon Jackson Museum, the oldest standing structure in all of Alaska which is home to a small, yet impressive collection of artefacts from all of Alaska’s indigenous groups.
Whilst cruising the Hubbard Glacier you will experience the wilds of Alaska as your ship makes its way through icy waters turning from Yakutat Bay into the narrow Disenchantment Bay to come face-to-face with the towering Hubbard Glacier. The strong currents and riptides that flow between Gilbert Point and the face of the glacier cause calving to occur on daily basis, sending massive chunks of ice crashing into Disenchantment Bay. Witness this awe-inspiring phenomenon onboard a Hubbard Glacier cruise through the misty, chilled air of the Gulf of Alaska. It’s an adventure of a lifetime.
Here’s your chance to take a glacial dogsled adventure in Alaska’s capital, where cultured sophistication meets the ruggedness of the Last Frontier. Juneau, the capital of Alaska was founded during a gold rush in 1880. Today, the former gold-mining town counts among its riches some of Alaska’s most spectacular scenery. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Juneau in the Alaska Panhandle, it faces the water from the mainland side of Gastineau Channel. Several magnificent fjords are located along the channel coast and the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, a favourite of visitors, is nearby.
You’ve never tasted salmon so fresh. Known as the ‘Salmon Capital of the World’, Ketchikan is also the ancestral home of the Tlingit people, who have carved the world’s largest collection of totem poles. If you’re up for an adventure, take a canoe and nature trail excursion through the rain forest or a wilderness exploration followed by a sumptuous crab feast you’ll long remember.
Whilst cruising the inside passage you have the opportunity to exploit at best the ship’s facilities. Enjoy endless entertainment options from sensational shows to some tranquil time in the library. Take a yoga class in the Fitness Center or relax with a massage in the Canyon Ranch SpaClub. Find true poolside serenity at the Solarium. Featuring a gorgeous pool, sparkling waterfalls, thickly padded lounge chairs, and an adults-only policy, tranquility is always just a few steps away. In the evening, you will be instructed by the ship’s crew to leave your luggage outside your stateroom by midnight, since these will be transported to the terminal early in the morning.
Your amazing adventure has come to an end, but the memories will remain with you forever. After breakfast, you will disembark the ship and be transferred to Vancouver airport to check in for your return flight to Malta (with transit). You will arrive in Malta the next day, Monday 29th July.
